Cape Henlopen’s Sydney Ostroski (right) and Polytech’s Alison McKay battle on Oct. 12. Cape is the No. 1 seed in the DIAA Field Hockey Tournament.

Four-time defending state champion Cape Henlopen earned the No. 1 seed on Friday when the pairings were released for the DIAA Field Hockey Tournament.

The Vikings (15-0) are riding an 82-game winning streak against in-state opponents, and are unbeaten in their last 69 games overall. Cape will open the tournament at home against No. 16 seed Brandywine (11-4) at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

First-round games will be played Tuesday and Wednesday at the home field of the higher-seeded team, or at a neutral site if the higher seed’s home field does not meet DIAA specifications. The semifinals will be played at a site or sites to be determined on Nov. 18, with the championship game scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at the University of Delaware’s Rullo Stadium.
